Road Safety at Ysgol Cymerau
A site meeting was held recently between the staff at Ysgol Cymerau and officers from Gwynedd Council’s Road Safety Unit to discuss how they would be able to improve road safety around the school in Pwllheli.
As part of the work, 20mph signs will be installed near the site to remind motorists that they are driving near a school, with the school’s pupils taking part in a drawing competition to create the design for the road safety signs.
Shirley Williams, from Gwynedd Council’s Road Safety Unit, said:
“Judging the competition was very difficult as all the pictures were of a high standard. After very careful consideration, the winners were announced as Ffion Martin, Lwsi Evans and Thomas Russell Roberts. Congratulations to them.”
Councillor Dafydd Meurig, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member who leads on Road Safety matters added:“Ensuring that the county’s children’s are aware of road safety matters is vitally important. Thanks to the pupils of Ysgol Cymerau for taking part in the competition, and I’m sure that the winning entries will make an important contribution to take care on the roads.”The work of the pupils will now be used to install 20mph signs around the school site.
